This series of paintings is of familiar but unremarkable items of clothing.

The undulations of fabric, its intimacy with, and similarity to the skin, evoke the form and presence of the unseen body. Focusing on details of openings in the garments creates a tension between revelation and concealment.

The enlarged scale and tight cropping is intended to decontextualise the subject from its surroundings allowing the pattern and nature of the cloth to suggest the social and sexual identity of the wearer.

Rich oil colour, directional brushstrokes and light are used to describe form, texture and mood in the work
